Mingmar Sherpa leads the team out of camp on day one. They were expecting the snow to be "up to shoulder height in some areas". Tough work!
[Update: 7 April 2013. RIP Mingmar Sherpa, aged 45, who lost his life after falling into a crevasse near the top of the icefall. My thoughts are with his wife, Mrs Fur Diki Sherpa, their son and their friends. A collection at Base Camp raised around $3000 for his family and his employer, the SPCC, contributed a further NR150,000.]
