(Neophema chrysogaster) Adult male. Critically endangered and endemic to southern Australia, there are an estimated 14-50 wild birds remaining (Feb 2018). Captive breeding has been successful, numbering around 340. In April 2018, some birds were caught and flown from Tas to Vic to reduce losses during migration. They will be housed at Werribee Zoo over winter and flown back in late spring for the summer breeding season.
(Lichenostomus melanops cassidix) Critically endangered and Victoria's only endemic bird, in 1989 there were only around 14 birds left in the wild. Since then, habitat conservation efforts, plus wild and captive breeding programs, have brought wild numbers up to around 200.
(Ptilonorhynchus violaceus)
