Lucky Panda
Giant Panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) Fu Ni (lucky girl) taking it easy on a warm day. Part of a pair that were shipped from Sichuan province, China, in 2009 – the only breeding pair in the southern hemisphere. 11 year old Fu Ni has had several 'pseudo' pregancies but no young yet. The 10-year loan from China, at a reported fee of $1m per year, was due to end November 2019, but has been extended a further five years at a cost of $3.5m.
