The Icefall Doctors - loaded up for their first day of work in the 2013 season. I was lucky to be invited to join in their puja ceremony and had a chance to experience their generosity and joviality.
Mingmar Sherpa leads the team out of camp on day one. They were expecting the snow to be "up to shoulder height in some areas". Tough work! [Update: 7 April 2013. RIP Mingmar Sherpa, aged 45, who lost his life after falling into a crevasse near the top of the icefall. My thoughts are with his wife, Mrs Fur Diki Sherpa, their son and their friends. A collection at Base Camp raised around $3000 for his family and his employer, the SPCC, contributed a further NR150,000.]
