Taking a break by the dam on a still Autumn morning
The top pool of the weir on a calm morning, reflecting Rough Tree-ferns (Cyathea australis) and gums. This area was severely damaged in the 2009 Black Saturday bushfires.
Native bush mixes with exotic plantings at this once-popular picnic area. Built in 1893 as a local water source, it is now only used as an emergency top-up for Melbourne's water supply. The shelter over the picnic tables (not shown) has been removed due to storm damage in October 2016.
