A double rainbow at Skógafoss, the last of over 30 waterfalls on the Skógá river
This US Air Force C-117D (formerly designated as a Super DC-3 (R4D-8)) crash landed in 1973 after running out of fuel - all survived. Since then, it's remained on this remote black sand beach in Southern Iceland as a hidden attraction for those in the know. Update June 2016: the road is now closed to vehicles and the only access is with a 4km walk. It's also no longer 'hidden', with a large sign at the gate.
