Disused pylons and cables remain in tribute to an earlier period of widespread coal production around Longyearbyen. As the mine at Svea completes its shutdown, only one mine remains in operation on the island.

It was built in secret and unveiled around Christmas in 2013 by Po Lin Lee, a Hong Kong native and local tour operator, at a cost of 500,000 Kroner. [Update Nov 2017] After a long battle with authorities over a building permit not being renewed, this has now been dismantled by the owner.
