Home to the mainland's only Royal Albatross colony, many gulls also nest here
(Chroicocephalus novaehollandiae scopulinus), Harington Point, Otago. With a decline of more than 80% since 1960, and less than 28,000 breeding pairs remaining, this nesting site is considered significant. It is also one of the few locations showing signs of population recovery.
Seemingly owned by the birds!
